Kinda blurry, but the coloring seems a bit off for either a savannah cat or a cougar. It’s also difficult to establish size here… I think it’s possible this is just a house cat. Whether or not this is the animal originally identified as a “possible cougar” remains open in my mind.

The mystery continues!

Authorities have apparently tracked down the animal that prompted reports of cougar sightings at the University of Maryland. Or at least, they came close.

They managed to snap pictures Friday of an unidentified feline that, while not quite a cougar, seemed far larger than a standard house cat.

So now they think that it’s just a big house cat. Here’s a picture, which gives you some idea of the size of this breed:

Somewhat disappointing, but that still might look good stuffed and mounted.

This one’s pretty close to home (I live in DC, while still-dormant contributor Sleestak lives in Hyattsville, MD)… Apparently, there have been several sightings in College Park of what UMD campus police are calling a “possible cougar.”
