<p>The New York Times has a write up about the &#8220;Jersey Devil Hunters&#8221; (featured <a href="http://quatchwatch.com/2008/09/history-hunters-pursue-jersey-devil/">here</a> previously).</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a bit of a fluff piece, with the obligatory bigfoot hoax mention and a somewhat patronizing tone, but it does provide a pretty fair look at the group, which seems to be more a social club than a group doing serious research.</p>
<p><span id="more-629"></span></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the bit that bothers me:</p>
<blockquote><p>So far, they have encountered little more than creepy noises, but they adhere to the credo embraced by all seekers of Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster and Great Caesar’s ghost.</p>
<p>As Ms. Leuter has written: “Until someone proves that there isn’t something out there, I will continue to believe that there is, and I will also continue my efforts to find proof that the Jersey Devil does in fact exist. So there.”</p></blockquote>
<p>If the <a href="http://www.venganza.org/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.venganza.org/?referer=');">Flying Spaghetti Monster</a> (or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell%27s_teapot" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_27s_teapot?referer=');">Bertrand Russell&#8217;s teapot</a>) has shown us nothing else, it&#8217;s that proving a negative is a) futile and b) completely unscientific.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/us/08land.html?ex=1378526400&amp;en=14834df6879a6581&amp;ei=5124&amp;partner=permalink&amp;exprod=permalink" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/us/08land.html?ex=1378526400_amp_en=14834df6879a6581_amp_ei=5124_amp_partner=permalink_amp_exprod=permalink&amp;referer=');">Link</a> to New York Times article</p>

<p>Having been in the Pine Barrens, I know what lives between Atlantic City and Philadelphia: Thousands of people with only a couple hundred teeth distributed amongst them.</p>
<p>So yeah&#8230; It looks fairly low-budget, but if I&#8217;m not mistaken, this guy:</p>
<p><a href="http://quatchwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/wiredude.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-313" title="wiredude" src="http://quatchwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/wiredude.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="130" /></a></p>

<p>Heimbuch and Scardillo are shopping the movie around, and hope to get it in theaters in time for Halloween. Check it out if you get the chance.</p>
